AI Automation Engineer

AIApply is hiring a remote AI Automation Engineer in the United States to build the systems that apply to jobs on behalf of our users.

This role sits at the intersection of browser automation, LLM agents and reliability engineering. You will build resilient automation that navigates thousands of different application portals, fills complex multi-step forms, handles file uploads and adapts when sites change — all while respecting rate limits, terms and user consent.

Expect deep work on Playwright, headless browser infrastructure, DOM understanding with vision and text models, self-healing selectors, queueing, retries, observability and anti-fragility. When something breaks at 2% of scale it matters, so you will build the telemetry and evaluation tooling to catch regressions before users do.

We are async-first and fully distributed. You will have real ownership over a system that measurably changes whether someone gets an interview.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain LLM-assisted browser automation across thousands of job portals.

Design self-healing selectors and DOM understanding using vision and text models.

Own queueing, retries, rate limiting and job orchestration at scale.

Build observability, alerting and automated regression suites for automation flows.

Investigate and fix real-world failures quickly and permanently.

Work with legal and product to keep automation compliant and consent-driven.

Qualifications

4+ years of backend or platform engineering. Hands-on experience with Playwright, Puppeteer or similar. Strong TypeScript or Python. Comfortable with distributed queues, retries and idempotency. Experience with LLM-based agents is a strong plus.
