Artificial Intelligence Engineer

ABOUT THE COMPANY We are partnering with a well-established, growing Buffalo-based organization running a cloud-first Microsoft Azure environment and is investing heavily in enterprise AI. WHY THIS ROLE We are seeking an AI Engineer to own the organization’s enterprise generative AI platforms and turn them into measurable business results. This is not a research or experimentation role. As the AI Engineer, you will sit down with business leaders and learn how their work actually gets done. You will then build the AI agents, workflows, and automations that make that work faster and better, with governance built in from day one.

The role is highly visible and positioned to grow as the company expands its AI strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES Own day-to-day administration of enterprise generative AI platforms, including Claude (Anthropic) and vendor AI tools: configuration, feature enablement, release management, and Entra ID group-based provisioning Lead discovery sessions with business leaders and subject matter experts to map current workflows and identify high-value, repeatable work suited to AI automation Design, build, and deploy AI agents and multi-step LLM workflows, including prompt engineering, knowledge source curation, review steps, and output templates Build lightweight integrations using REST APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors, and Microsoft Power Platform when native platform tools fall short Establish testing and validation standards for every AI workflow before release, including accuracy criteria, source verification, stakeholder sign-off, and production monitoring Operationalize AI governance and responsible-use policy, covering data handling, access controls, retention, and vendor data review with Risk and IT Security Train users at every skill level through live sessions, recorded demos, quick reference guides, and office hours, and build a network of business champions Track adoption, usage, and time-saved metrics in Power BI and report results to technology leadership Serve as the escalation point for AI platform support and manage vendor roadmaps and support cases REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of hands-on experience building or configuring generative AI solutions (LLM workflows, AI agents, or prompt-driven applications) that delivered measurable business outcomes Proven experience partnering directly with business units to identify AI use cases and translate business problems into working solutions Ability to explain AI capabilities and limitations clearly and credibly to senior, non-technical leaders Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and integration patterns, plus scripting in Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell Disciplined approach to AI testing, evaluation, and quality assurance Experience designing and delivering technical training for non-technical audiences Strong understanding of data confidentiality, access control, and data protection Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience #CPS1 Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year Education: Bachelor's (Required)
