Sr. AI Engineer

As a Senior AI Engineer, you’ll build and ship new products for Vanta customers through our New Product Factory, and create AI agents that transform how our sales teams generate pipeline, win customers, and grow revenue. You’ll join a team that embeds across every part of the business, with a mandate to move fast and turn ambitious ideas into products that change how Vanta operates and wins.

This team operates as an internal incubator: applying AI at scale to revolutionize customer engagement. We build high-impact tools that reshape conversations, learn from every customer interaction, and demonstrate the value of our platform in real-world scenarios. This team sits at the intersection of engineering and GTM, shipping solutions that range from rapid prototypes to production-grade systems.

As a Senior AI Engineer on this team, you will own end-to-end outcomes, move quickly from concept to production, and directly shape how customers experience Vanta in the field. This role is ideal for AI-pilled builders who want to be close to users, solve complex business problems with elegant technical solutions, and define entirely new categories of enterprise software.

What you'll do as a Sr. AI Engineer at Vanta

• Think big about what AI makes possible, identifying opportunities to build new customer products through our New Product Factory and transform how Vanta generates pipeline, wins customers, and grows revenue.
• Take ideas from zero to launch: define the problem, prototype quickly, test with users, and ship and improve products that solve real customer and business needs.
• Build AI agents and applications that reimagine how work gets done, from agents with deep domain expertise to fully agentic sellers.
• Embed with teams across Vanta and partner directly with executive leadership to turn ambitious ideas into working products.
• Stay at the forefront of AI by experimenting with new models, tools, and techniques, developing informed opinions about their capabilities, and applying what works.
• Bring strong software engineering judgment to everything you ship, building reliable, maintainable applications and platforms with Python, TypeScript, SQL, APIs, and modern frameworks.
• Own quality from prototype through production, including evaluation, testing, monitoring, documentation, and ongoing operation.
• Turn lessons from real-world use into improvements to your products and insights that shape Vanta’s broader product development.

How to be successful in this role

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on building and shipping full-stack applications.
• You've built products from the ground up, navigated ambiguity, and owned outcomes in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
• Deep technical skill set: proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript), experience with web frameworks (React, Node.js), and strong SQL skills.
• Understanding of how AI and automation can be applied to business workflows: experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or workflow automation tools is a strong plus.
• Product mindset: you care about user experience, business impact, and building systems that people love to use, not just technical elegance.
• Demonstrated ability to move quickly from prototype to production, make effective tradeoffs, and ship incrementally.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions to business stakeholders and executive leadership.
