Job description
The company has reached approximately $10M ARR in less than two years, serves thousands of companies, operates tens of millions of Firecracker VMs monthly, regularly schedules 100K+ vCPUs concurrently, and manages a petabyte-scale Ceph cluster. They have raised $58.5M from Seed through Series B, led by GV and Peak XV Capital.
They are now expanding beyond its original CI product into AI-native developer tooling, including agent sandboxes at scale and its own background coding agent.
The engineering organization is intentionally small and highly selective. Staff engineers are expected to remain hands-on ICs who materially influence the technical direction of the company rather than operate as people managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a hands-on Staff-level Product Engineering role, not an engineering management position and not an infrastructure/DevOps/SRE role.
The engineer will help set technical direction for new products, make architectural decisions, translate product/business strategy into technical execution, and personally drive new products from 0 →1.
This person will be expected to operate effectively when both the problem and solution are still undefined, own production outcomes, mentor senior engineers, and influence engineering standards across the organization.
- 7–20 Years of Relevant Engineering Experience
- Must have 7+ years of experience as a full-stack/product engineer, with meaningful end-to-end product ownership.
- Proven 0 →1 Product Engineering
- Candidate must have personally designed, built, and deployed exceptional products from 0 →1 in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment with a strong/recognized engineering organization.
- Think environments comparable to Ramp, Figma, Rippling, Sentry, etc. The specific company does not need to be on an example list, but the caliber of environment and the candidate's actual ownership must be clear.
- Working at a good company is not enough. Establish what the candidate personally owned, what they built from the early stages, the technical decisions they made, and what happened to the product afterward.
- Strong Full-Stack Product Engineering — Especially TypeScript + React
- Candidate must have strong technical fundamentals across the stack, with hands-on TypeScript and React expertise.
Technical Direction as an Individual Contributor
Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of
- Setting or materially shaping technical direction
- Making significant architectural decisions
- Leading through influence
- Operating as a senior individual contributor rather than relying on management authority
- Applied AI / Coding-Agent Experience
- Strong Product + Customer Orientation
- Needs experience setting and leading the technical direction of high-value, recognizable products from early stages, with demonstrated attention to customer experience.
- Strong Communication / Clarity of Thought
- Candidate must communicate clearly with engineers, leadership, and non-technical stakeholders and be able to explain technical decisions and trade-offs pragmatically.
