Job description

About the Team

Enterprise Expansions is part of OpenAI’s Enterprise Engineering organization. We help organizations make ChatGPT Work part of everyday work, from discovering what it can do to building useful agentic workflows. Our goal is to help employees move from their first chat to confidently using AI to get work done.

Our full stack work focuses on two workstreams

  • Agentic Activation: Help first-time chat users become effective agent users within their organizations. Bring organizational context into ChatGPT and build personalized onboarding, product education, and experiments that help people adopt agents in daily workflows.
  • Work Discovery: Make relevant skills, plugins, capabilities, and context easy for knowledge workers to find and ready to use. Build discovery experiences across the frontend and backend.

Across both workstreams, we ship quickly, learn from customers, and use experiments to improve adoption.

About the Role

We’re looking for a full stack engineer with strong frontend skills, product instincts, and UX and design taste. The work ranges from activating first-time users to helping knowledge workers discover the capabilities and context they need to make ChatGPT useful in their daily workflows.

You’ll own projects from early prototypes through production and iteration, shaping interactions and building the backend services that support them. This role is a fit for someone who cares about the details of how a product feels and can turn an ambiguous user problem into a simple, polished experience. This role is based in San Francisco.

In this role, you will

  • Build personalized onboarding and product education that help first-time ChatGPT users adopt agentic workflows.
  • Create discovery experiences that make relevant skills, plugins, capabilities, and organizational context easy for knowledge workers to find and use.
  • Shape product flows and implement polished interfaces, with careful attention to interaction details, accessibility, and responsiveness.
  • Own the frontend and backend of product features, including the services, APIs, and data flows that support the user experience.
  • Design and run product experiments, measure adoption, and use the results to improve how people get started and build lasting habits.
  • Learn directly from customers, identify work that agents can take on, and turn those insights into prototypes and production features.

Your background might look something like

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, excluding internships, building and shipping user-facing products.
  • Strong frontend engineering skills and experience building production web applications with modern frameworks.
  • Strong UX and design taste, demonstrated through intuitive product flows, thoughtful interaction design, and attention to visual detail.
  • Experience building backend services, APIs, and data models, with the ability to work independently across the stack.
  • A track record of owning features from problem definition and technical design through implementation, launch, and iteration.
  • Strong product judgment and experience using customer feedback and product data to decide what to build and how to improve it.
  • Sound engineering fundamentals and a practical approach to testing, performance, accessibility, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers, and make progress when problems and priorities are still taking shape.
  • Deep experience in growth engineering, activation, onboarding, or product experimentation is a strong plus.
