Day to Day

As Distinguished Engineer, AI at Indeed, you will be instrumental in revolutionizing hiring through artificial intelligence. You’ll work with hundreds of engineers across the company to build an AI platform and solutions that impact millions of job seekers and employers daily. This role presents a unique opportunity to spearhead groundbreaking AI initiatives at the forefront of the industry, setting the standard for innovation and impact for job seekers and employers with the world's foremost job marketplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for the end-to-end model lifecycle: Define engineering standards for foundation model training, post-training (RLHF/SFT), quantization, rigorous evaluation, and high-performance deployment..
• Guide the architecture of Indeed’s agentic AI capabilities, enabling advanced context assembly, multi-step reasoning, tool use, and autonomous task execution across product lines.
• Ship high-impact AI products: partner with AI Product leadership to translate state-of-the-art AI into user-facing features that measurably improve hiring outcomes for both job seekers and employers.
• Ensure ethical use of AI by implementing robust governance frameworks, monitoring model performance, and mitigating biases and risks.
• Collaborate closely with the AI product team to drive the vision of the AI Platform and Indeed’s advanced AI-based products.
• Drive the evolution of Indeed’s ML platforms, including its shared fact/feature store, ML ops, and model management platform.
• Elevate engineering excellence across Indeed: Foster a culture of deep technical ownership and innovation, serving as a primary mentor and technical bar-raiser for principal and staff engineers organization-wide.

Skills/Competencies

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience; or a PhD with a minimum of 8 years experience
• Proven and practical expertise at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, driving measurable results with production applications.
• Deep expertise in AI platforms, infrastructure, and production ML systems.
• Successful track record of providing technical direction to high-performance, fast-paced, tech organizations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with the executive team, fellow team members, and partners, with the ability to translate complex AI/ML concepts into clear and actionable insights for diverse audiences.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in academia, industry, and open source, applying this knowledge to improve products and platforms.
• Passion for Responsible AI and Environment, Social, and Governance issues in AI.

Tier 2 - United States of America $298,000 - 448,000 USD per year

Tier 3 - United States of America $327,000 - 491,000 USD per year

Tier 5 - United States of America $373,000 - 559,000 USD per year
