Job description
(FEQ128R9)
The role
At Databricks, our core values are at the heart of everything we do; a culture of proactivity and a customer-centric mindset guide us in creating a unified platform that makes Data Engineering, Data Science, Analytics & GenAI accessible to everyone. We aim to inspire our customers to make informed decisions that push their business forward. We provide a user-friendly and intuitive platform that makes it easy to turn insights into action and fosters a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
As a Senior Solutions Architect, you are an expert-level technical leader responsible for the organisation's most complex customer engagements. You drive consumption strategy, own executive-level relationships, and serve as the definitive technical authority for your accounts. You have declared your archetype - a recognised technical specialisation that makes you a force multiplier across your team and region. You operate at the intersection of deep technical expertise, strategic account planning, and executive influence.
This role will report to a Field Engineering Manager in the Emerging Enterprises team.
The impact you will have
- Drive the technical and consumption strategy in partnership with Account Executives for Startup & Digital Native customers in the Nordics region, directly influencing platform adoption and revenue growth.
- You will influence stakeholders at all levels through complex engagements with the broader cloud ecosystem and 3rd-party applications, ensuring they are excited by the Databricks vision and solution strategy.
- Be a 'champion’ for both customers and colleagues, operating as an expert architect and trusted advisor for significant data analytics architecture, design, and adoption of the Databricks Data Intelligence platform.
- Lead the most complex architecture engagements: multi-workload platforms, enterprise-wide migrations, real-time systems, and AI/ML at scale.
- Contribute to Field Engineering thought leadership through customer-facing content, workshops, and community engagement
- Coach junior Solutions Architects and teams on use-case prioritisation and on building technical champions.
What we look for
(Note: it is not expected that you “tick every box” below and encourage you to apply if you are meeting several of the expected criteria and can demonstrate a strong ability to transfer skills and develop quickly in the role!)
- 8+ years in solutions architecture, principal engineering, technical pre-sales leadership, or a senior customer-facing technical role
- A strong "AI-Builder" mindset; Expert-level coding proficiency — Python, SQL, and ideally Spark/PySpark. You will complete a live coding assessment and a platform build during the interview process.
- Proven track record of driving consumption growth and platform adoption with customers. Experience working with and/or within Startups and Digital Native organisations will be advantageous for this role.
- Strong technical architecture skills with deep expertise in enterprise data technologies: distributed systems at scale, streaming/real-time, lakehouse design patterns, data governance frameworks, and cloud-native platforms
- Expert-level cloud platform knowledge (Databricks, AWS, Azure, GCP or equivalent depth in competing modern data platforms with demonstrated rapid learning ability)
- Declared technical specialisation with recognised depth — e.g., real-time architectures, ML/AI platforms, data governance, large-scale migrations, or industry-specific solutions
- Executive presence and strong strategic thinking - ability to influence Directors, VPs, and C-level stakeholders on long-term data and AI strategy - connecting technical architecture decisions to business outcomes and revenue impact
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience); advanced degrees are valued
Note: the contract for this position will be formalised with a global Employer of Record (EOR). Further specific details on this setup can be discussed during initial screening calls.
